Arabic vocabulary
How to say “a poet” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
قَالَ وَكَانَ عَامِرٌ رَجُلًا شَاعِرًا،
He said that Amir was a man and a poet.
شَاعِرًا — a poet. A second predicate noun in the 'was' frame, describing Amir further, and its -an ending again marks the predicate role. Stacked after the first, it adds 'and a poet' as a further thing he was, both held in the accusative by the framing verb.
