How to say “darkness” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
الْأَصْنَام لذات الدُّنْيَا كسوداء
The idols are the pleasures of this world, like a dark-skinned woman.
كَسَوْدَاءِ — like darkness. 'Ka-' (like) fused with a noun 'a black woman' — the predicate, 'are like a dark woman'; the 'ka-' sets up the comparison and governs the genitive (a diptote color-form, so '-a' without tanwin). The world's delights likened to an alluring but lowly figure.
