Arabic vocabulary
How to say “eighty” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَالْقَوْمُ ثَمَانُونَ رَجُلًا
And the people were eighty men.
ثَمَانُونَ — eighty. This is the 'tens' number eighty, here doing the job of telling you how many the people were, so it acts as the predicate completing 'the people were ___'. Numbers like this take a special ending shared with the masculine sound plural, which is why it ends in -una rather than the simple noun ending.
