Arabic vocabulary
تَوْقِير is how you say “respect” in Arabic. Hear it pronounced and see it used in a real example sentence from classical texts below.
فما أولاك بالخير والتوقير ،
Then how deserving you are of goodness and respect,
وَالتَّوْقِيرِ — and the respect. This is the bound wa- 'and' plus al- 'the' plus the noun: 'and the respect'. Because it is coordinated by wa- onto the previous bi- phrase, it shares that preposition's possessed ending, so 'of the good' carries straight on into 'and the respect'.
