Arabic vocabulary
How to say “son” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَابْنُ نَاصِرِ، وَأَبُو مُحَمَّدِ الشَّخَّابِ،
and the son of Nasser, and Abu Muhammad al-Shakhab,
وَابْنُ — and son of. This token fuses the linking wa- with the word for 'son'. The wa- adds this person to the list, while 'son' heads an 'of' pairing with the name after it, taking definiteness from that owner. So it sets up 'and the son of...' as one continued list item.
