False Prophets

الأَمْرُ الثَّالِثُ مَا تَضَمَّنَهُ قَوْلُهُ تَنْزِيلٌ مِنْ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ

The third matter is what is contained in His saying: 'A revelation from the Lord of the worlds.'

إنه ربوبيته الكاملة لخلقة تأبى أن يتركهم سدى

Indeed, His complete lordship over His creation refuses to leave them neglected.

لَا يَأْمُرُهُمْ وَلَا يَنْهَاهُمْ وَلَا يُرْشِدُهُمْ إِلَى مَا يَنْفَعُهُمْ وَيُحَذِّرُهُمْ مَا يُضِرُّهُمْ

Not commanding them, nor forbidding them, nor guiding them to what benefits them, nor warning them of what harms them.

بَلْ يَتْرُكُهُمْ هَمَلًا بِمَنْزِلَةِ الْأَنْعَامِ السَّائِمَةِ

Rather, leaving them to wander like grazing cattle.

فمن زعم ذلك لم يقدر رب العالمين قدره ونسبه إلا مالا يليق به تعالى

Whoever claims that has not given the Lord of the worlds His due esteem and has attributed to Him what is not befitting.

فَتَعَالَى اللَّهُ الْمَلِكُ الْحَقُّ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْكَرِيمِ

Exalted is Allah, the True Sovereign; there is no deity except Him, Lord of the Noble Throne.

ثُمَّ أَقَامَ سُبْحَانَهُ الْبُرْهَانَ الْقَاطِعَ عَلَى صِدْقِ رَسُولِهِ

Then He, Exalted, established the decisive proof of the truthfulness of His Messenger.

وَأَنَّهُ لَمْ يَتَقَوَّلْ عَلَيْهِ فِيمَا قَالَهُ

And that he did not falsely attribute to Him what he claimed.

وَأَنَّهُ لَوْ تَقَوَّلَ عَلَيْهِ لَمَا أَقَرَّهُ وَلَعَاجَلَهُ بِالْإِهْلَاكِ

And that if he had falsely attributed to Him, He would not have approved it and would have hastened to destroy him.

فَإِنَّ كَمَالَ عِلْمِهِ وَقُدْرَتِهِ وَحِكْمَتِهِ تَأْبَى أَنْ يُقِرَّ مَنْ تَقَوَّلَ عَلَيْهِ وَافْتَرَى عَلَيْهِ

For His perfect knowledge, power, and wisdom refuse to approve one who falsely attributes to Him and fabricates against Him.

وَأَضَلَّ عِبَادَهُ وَاسْتَبَاحَ دِمَاءَ مَنْ كَذَّبَهُ وَحَرِيمَهُمْ وَأَمْوَالَهُمْ

And leads His servants astray and permits the blood of those who deny him, and their sanctities and wealth.

وَأَظْهَرَ فِي الْأَرْضِ الْفَسَادَ وَالْجَوْرَ وَالْكَذِبَ وَخَالَفَ الْخَلْقَ

And spread corruption, oppression, and falsehood on earth, and contradicted creation.

فَكَيْفَ يَلِيقُ بِأَحْكَمِ الْحَاكِمِينَ وَأَرْحَمِ الرَّاحِمِينَ وَأَقْدَرِ الْقَادِرِينَ أَنْ يُقِرَّهُ عَلَى ذَٰلِكَ

How can it befit the Wisest of Judges, the Most Merciful of the merciful, the Most Powerful of the powerful, to approve of that?

بَلْ كَيْفَ يَلِيقُ بِهِ أَنْ يُؤَيِّدَهُ وَيَنْصُرَهُ وَيُعْلِيَهُ وَيُظْهِرَهُ وَيُظْفِرَهُ بِأَهْلِ الْحَقِّ

Rather, how can it befit Him to support him, grant him victory, elevate him, make him prevail, and empower him over the people of truth?

يَسْفِكُ دِمَاءَهُم وَيَسْتَبِيحُ أَمْوَالَهُمْ وَأَوْلَادَهُمْ وَنِسَاءَهُمْ

He sheds their blood and violates their wealth, children, and women.

قَائِلًا إِنَّ اللَّهَ أَمَرَنِي بِذَٰلِكَ وَأَبَاحَهُ لِي

Saying that Allah commanded me to do this and permitted it for me.

بَلْ كَيْفَ يَلِيقُ بِهِ أَنْ يُصَدِّقَهُ بِأَنْوَاعِ التَّصْدِيقِ كُلِّهَا

Rather, how can it befit Him to confirm him with all types of affirmation?

فَيُصَدِّقَهُ بِإِقْرَارِهِ وَبِالْآيَاتِ الْمُسْتَلْزِمَةِ لِصِدْقِهِ الَّتِي دِلَالَتُهَا عَلَى التَّصْدِيقِ

So He affirms him by acknowledging him and through signs that necessarily prove his truthfulness, whose evidence points to confirmation.
