الحمد لله الذي يمهل ولا يخاف فواتا
And He brought forth from it pasture and fodder, making them provisions.
الذي قال للكون كن فواتى
And He made it a dwelling for His creatures — raising them as children and gathering them as remains.
جمع بقدرته من المختلفات أشتاتا
And He decreed for its inhabitants a measured lifespan and an appointed time.
و فرق بين الإلفين وكم باتا
So He decreed for them life, and He decreed upon them death.
و قسر بقهره من تكبر تعاتى
No lesson strikes home like the fact that your father and your mother have died.
كم مطمئن في عزته أخذه بعزته بياتا
'Have We not made the earth a container — for the living and the dead?'
