One day, I was behind the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him),
He said: O boy!
Indeed, I will teach you some words:
Keep Allah in mind and He will protect you.
Keep Allah in mind and you will find Him before you.
If you ask, ask Allah.
And if you seek help, seek help from Allah.
Know that if the nation gathered to benefit you with anything, they would not benefit you except with what Allah has decreed for you.
And if they gathered to harm you with anything, they would not harm you except with what Allah has decreed against you.
The pens have been lifted, and the pages have dried.
Narrated by Tirmidhi [hadith number: 2516]
And he said: A good and sound hadith.
And in a narration other than Tirmidhi's:
Keep Allah in mind and you will find Him before you.
Get to know Allah in prosperity, and He will know you in adversity.
And know that what missed you was never going to reach you.
And what reached you was never going to miss you.
And know that victory comes with patience.
And relief comes with distress.
And with hardship comes ease.
