Those Who Enter Without Account

عرضت علي الأمم، فرأيت النبي ومعه الرهيط،

The nations were presented to me, and I saw a prophet with a small group with him,

والنبي ومعه الرجل والرجلان،

and a prophet with one or two men with him,

والنبي وليس معه أحد إذ رفع لي سواد عظيم فظننت أنهم أمتي،

and a prophet with nobody with him until a vast multitude was raised for me, and I thought it was my nation,

فَقِيلَ لِي هَذَا مُوسَى وَقَوْمُهُ

but it was said to me: This is Moses and his people,

ولكن انظر إلى الأفق، فنظرت فإذا سواد عظيم،

But look to the horizon, and I looked there and saw a vast multitude.

فقيل لى، انظر إلى الأفق الآخر، فإذا سواد عظيم،

Then it was said to me: Look to the other horizon, and there I saw a vast multitude.

فقيل لي هذه أمتك، ومعهم سبعون ألفاً يدخلون الجنة بغير حساب ولا عذاب

And it was said to me: This is your nation, and with them are seventy thousand who will enter Paradise without account or punishment.

ثُمَّ نَهَضَ فَدَخَلَ مَنْزِلَهُ

Then he stood up and entered his house.

فخاض الناس في أولئك الذين يدخلون الجنة بغير حساب ولا عذاب،

The people discussed those who will enter Paradise without account or punishment.

فقال بعضهم فلعلهم الذين صحبوا رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ،

Some of them said: Perhaps they are those who accompanied the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him,

وقال بعضهم فلعلهم الذين ولدوا في الإسلام، فلم يشركوا بالله شيئاً وذكروا أشياء

and some of them said: Perhaps they are those born in Islam who never associated anything with Allah – and they mentioned other things –

فخرج عليهم رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم فقال ما الذي تخوضون فيه؟

Then the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, came out to them and said: 'What are you discussing?'

فأخبروه فقال هم الذين لا يرقون ، ولا يسترقون ولا يتطيرون، وعلى ربهم يتوكلون

They informed him, and he said: 'They are those who do not perform ruqyah on others, do not ask for ruqyah to be done for them, do not believe in omens, and they rely upon their Lord.'

فقام عكاشة بن محصن فقال ادع الله أن يجعلني منهم،

Ukasha bin Mihsan stood up and said: 'Pray to Allah to make me one of them,'

فَقَالَ أَنْتَ مِنْهُمْ

He said: 'You are one of them.'

ثم قام رجل آخر فقال ادع الله أن يجعلني منهم

Then another man stood up and said: 'Pray to Allah to make me one of them.'

فَقَالَ سَبَقَكَ بِهَا عُكَاشَةُ

He said: 'Ukasha has surpassed you in this.'
