Arabic vocabulary
How to say “a house” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَأَفْرَدْتُ لِلشَّيْخِ دَارًا بِدَرْبِ الدِّيْوَانِ،
And I set aside a house for the sheikh on Diwan Lane.
دار — a house. An indefinite noun 'a house' wearing the object-like ending, marking it as the direct object — the thing set aside. Its bare, un-'the' ending leaves it 'a house', one not previously specified.
