Arabic vocabulary
How to say “I set aside” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَأَفْرَدْتُ لِلشَّيْخِ دَارًا بِدَرْبِ الدِّيْوَانِ،
And I set aside a house for the sheikh on Diwan Lane.
وَأَفْرَدْتُ — and I set aside. This joins a linking 'and' to a first-person past verb 'I set aside / earmarked', whose '-tu' ending carries the 'I' subject inside the verb. The 'and' chains the action on, and the verb governs the object that follows.
