  زُخْرُفُ — adornment. This is the doer of the preceding verb, placed after it as Arabic prefers, and it is also the first half of a possessive pair. As the owned noun leading into an owner, it gives up its own 'the' and takes its definiteness from the word that follows naming whose adornment it is.
