Arabic vocabulary
How to say “at night” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَسِرْنَا لَيْلًا،
So we traveled at night,
لَيْلًا — at night. This noun is used as a time-adverb, telling WHEN the travelling happened, by night, and its -an ending is what casts it into that adverbial role. Arabic turns a noun into a 'when' marker by this accusative shape rather than adding a preposition like 'at'.
