Arabic vocabulary
How to say “be permitted” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَإِنِّي أَرْجُو أَنْ يُؤْذَنَ لِي
I hope that I will be permitted.
يُؤْذَنَ — he be permitted. This is the passive set in the subjunctive after 'an': the speaker would BE permitted, not do the permitting, and Arabic marks both the passive (inner vowels) and the post-'an' mood (reshaped ending) on the one verb. The permitter, God, is left unstated.
