Arabic vocabulary
تَنَاظَرْ is how you say “be reciprocated” in Arabic. Hear it pronounced and see it used in a real example sentence from classical texts below.
وَرَبَّ نَظْرَةٌ لَمْ تَنَاظَرْ
Many a glance was not reciprocated.
تَنَاظَرْ — be reciprocated. A verb built on a mutual pattern, where two sides do the action to each other, so it means 'be exchanged/returned'. It sits in the clipped form the negator forces, and that negator throws its sense to the past, giving 'was not returned'. So the glance went one way only.
