Arabic vocabulary
How to say “become” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَتُصْبِحُ سَكْرَانًا
And you wake up drunk.
وَتُصْبِحُ — and you become. The fused wa- is 'and', drawing a sharp contrast with the previous line, and it sits on a 'become' verb whose 'you' subject is built into the prefix. The verb again frames a change of state and waits for a following word naming the condition; the wa- here sets the two fates side by side.
