Arabic vocabulary
How to say “drunk” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَتُصْبِحُ سَكْرَانًا
And you wake up drunk.
سكران — drunk. This descriptive word completes the 'become' verb and so takes the accusative ending the verb assigns to its predicate. Its shape is the pattern Arabic uses for someone overcome by a state, here 'drunk'. The accusative is the grammatical tie binding it to the unspoken 'you' as the state that 'you' end up in.
