How to say “bee” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَاسْتَفْتَحْتُ النَّحْلَ،
So I began with the chapter The Bee.
النَّحْلَ — the chapter The Bee. A definite noun with al- ('the'), here a chapter name, standing as the direct object of the verb before it, the thing begun. Its ending is in the object (accusative) shape, marking it as what received the action. The leading l of al- assimilates into the noun's first letter, which is why you hear a doubled n.
