Arabic vocabulary
How to say “to begin” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَاسْتَفْتَحْتُ النَّحْلَ،
So I began with the chapter The Bee.
فَاسْتَفْتَحْتُ — so I began. A connector fa- ('so') fused to the past verb 'I opened/began', with the first-person 'I' in its -tu ending. The fa- threads this onto the rising as the next move. The verb here carries a 'began-reciting' sense, and its object, the chapter, follows.
