Arabic vocabulary
How to say “beginning” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَبَدْءُ الْهَوَى طَمُوحُ الْعَيْنِ
And the beginning of desire is the eye's ambition.
وَبَدْءُ — and beginning. Two pieces fuse: wa- ('and') tying this to the prior line, and a noun meaning 'beginning'. So it opens 'and the beginning...'. The noun heads a possessive pairing with the next word. The wa- sets this statement parallel to the one just made about trial.
