The more moisture increases, the more bitter it becomes.
مَرَارَةً — bitterness. A noun naming bitterness as what increases in the second clause, in the accusative as the specifying complement of the repeated verb. It mirrors the specifier in the first clause. Its case marks the respect in which the growth occurs.
