وَأَنْزَلُوهُ — and brought him down. The wa- simply adds another act to the mob's spree -- and they brought him down -- with the plural ending for 'they' and '-hu' (him) as object. Coming right after the breaking, the wa- lists parallel actions of the same crowd.
