Arabic vocabulary
How to say “compete” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
ولا تجسسوا ولا تنافسوا،
And do not spy, and do not compete with each other,
تَنَافَسُوا — compete with each other. A plural 'you all' verb in the mutual pattern, so the action runs back and forth between people, here outdoing one another. The prohibition before it sets it in the jussive ending, marking it as something not to be done; the reciprocal sense and the plural subject are both carried inside the single word.
