How to say “cover me” in Arabic, with pronunciation and real example sentences from OpenArabic texts.
فَقَالَ زَمِّلُونِي زَمِّلُونِي
Then he said, "Cover me, cover me."
زَمِّلُونِي — cover me. A plural command, 'cover me', addressed to a group, with 'me' attached at its end as the object; the plural shape shows more than one person is being told. So one word carries the order, its plural addressees, and its object.
From: The Night of Revelation and Consolation →فَقَالَ زَمِّلُونِي زَمِّلُونِي
Then he said, "Cover me, cover me."
زَمِّلُونِي — cover me. The very same plural command repeated for urgency; doubling the imperative is how Arabic conveys an anxious, pressing plea. Its form and job are identical to the previous word, only repeated.
