How to say “deserve” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
قَالَتْ تَسْتَأْهِلُ أَلَّا أَرْحَمَكَ
She said, "You deserve that I withhold my mercy from you."
تَسْتَأْهِلُ — you deserve. A present-tense verb with 'you' (masculine) built into its prefix, 'you deserve'. It takes a whole clause as its object, the thing deserved, introduced by the particle that follows. The present tense states it as a standing fact about the addressee, not a one-time event.
