How to say “dog” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَيُدْرِكُهُ الْكَلْبُ فَيَأْخُذُهُ
Then the dog catches up with it and seizes it.
الْكَلْبُ — the dog. A definite noun 'the dog', the subject of the verb just before it, sitting after its verb in the usual verb-first order and carrying the plain subject ending. Its al- marks the specific dog. So it is the dog that overtakes the gazelle.
