Arabic vocabulary
أَمْتَعَ is how you say “entertain” in Arabic. Hear it pronounced and see it used in a real example sentence from classical texts below.
لَوْ أَمْتَعْتَنَا بِهِ
If only you had let us enjoy it.
أَمْتَعْتَنَا — you had let us enjoy. A finished-action verb addressed to 'you' (the -ta ending) with -na, 'us', glued on as its object, so the word holds doer, action and recipients together. Under the 'if only' frame its past shape reads as the unreal 'had you let us enjoy'.
