وَكَانَ أَمْرَأً تَنَصَّرَ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ،
And he was a man who converted to Christianity during the Age of Ignorance,
تَنَصَّرَ — converted to Christianity. A past verb in a self-directed pattern meaning 'became a Christian', its doer folded in as 'he'; the verb-shape itself carries the 'turn oneself into' sense. It describes the man further, the one who had converted.
