And on the hardship of fasting.
مَشَقَّةِ — hardship of. The first half of an 'of' pairing ('hardship of'), owned by 'the fasting' next, with the two set directly together. As the owned term it drops its own 'the' and borrows definiteness from the owner. Its genitive ending comes from the preposition governing the phrase.
