Arabic vocabulary
How to say “he lights” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَيُوقِدُ وَقُودًا رَفِيقًا
Then he lights some thin kindling.
فَيُوقَدُ — then he lights. A leading fa- chains this onto the previous step as 'then', followed by the present-tense verb 'he lights', with the 'he' carried inside the verb. The verb is active: the man does the lighting, he is the one acting on the fuel. Arabic keeps the sequencing word and the verb fused into one written unit.
