How to say “his mother” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَيَقُولُ يَا أُمَّهُ أَنَا أَعْلَمُ مَا يُرِيدُونَ،
Then he says, "O my mother, I know what they want,"
أماه — O my mother. This is 'mother' in its direct-address form, with a first-person 'my' folded onto its end, so one word carries both the noun and the possessor. The special vocative shape signals it is the person being called out to. Arabic compresses 'O my mother' into this single addressed word.
