Arabic vocabulary
عرض is how you say “honor” in Arabic. Hear it pronounced and see it used in a real example sentence from classical texts below.
كُلُّ الْمُسْلِمِ عَلَى الْمُسْلِمِ حَرَامٌ دَمُهُ وَمَالُهُ وَعِرْضُهُ
All of the Muslim is sacred to another Muslim: his blood, his wealth, and his honor.
وَعِرْضُهُ — and his honor. 'And his honor', the third item joined by 'and', in the '-u' ending, with 'his' fused on. Blood, wealth and reputation together make up the 'whole' of the Muslim that is inviolable.
