Arabic vocabulary
How to say “I gave in charity” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَخَرَجْتُ وَتَصَدَّقْتُ بِمَالِيِ،
So I went out and gave my money in charity.
وتصدقّت — and I gave in charity. The fused wa- here is 'and', adding a second act of contrition alongside the going-out rather than ordering them, on a past-tense verb with the -tu 'I'. This is a reflexive-shaped giving verb, the pattern that means 'to give of oneself in charity', so the form itself carries the almsgiving sense.
