How to say “ignorance” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
بَلَّ أَوْلَاءُ أَعْذَرُ بِالْجَهَالَةِ
On the contrary, those are more excusable because of ignorance.
بِالْجَهَالَةِ — because of ignorance. The prefix bi- here is causal, 'because of / on account of', heading a definite noun (al-) for ignorance. The preposition forces the 'of'-style ending and links the excuse to its ground: they are more excusable because of their not knowing.
