Arabic vocabulary
How to say “it is” in Arabic, with pronunciation and real example sentences from OpenArabic texts.
فَإِنَّهَا أَرْضُ سُوْءٍ،
For it is an evil land.
فَإِنَّهَا — so indeed it is. Three pieces fuse here: 'fa-' (for/because) giving the reason for the prohibition, the emphasizer 'inna', and the attached '-ha' (it) pointing back to the land. 'Inna' strengthens the explanation and takes '-ha' as the topic it asserts, so the whole reads 'for indeed it (is)...', a forceful justifying clause.
From: The Joy of Repentance →فَإِنَّهَا طَلْعَةٌ إِلَى كُلِّ سُوْءٍ
For it is a step toward every evil.
فَإِنَّهَا — so indeed it is. Three pieces fused: the fa- connector ('so'), the emphatic particle ('indeed'), and a feminine 'it'. The fa- draws a consequence, the particle swears to it, and the 'it' points back to the soul - so 'so indeed it...'.
