How to say “its leaves” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
تَبَدَّلَتْ أَوْرَاقُهُ عَنِ الْوَرَقِ
Its leaves changed, becoming like paper.
أَوْراقُهُ — its leaves. A noun with -hu ('its') attached, the owner folded onto its tail; it is the delayed subject of 'changed' just before it. The -hu points back to the plant or tree, and the non-human plural subject is exactly why the verb took its feminine-singular shape. It names what altered: its foliage.
