How to say “killing” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
الْكَبِيرَةُ الثَّانِيَةُ قَتْلُ النَّفْسِ
The second major sin: Killing a soul.
قَتْلُ — killing. An action-noun 'killing' heading an 'of' pairing with 'the soul' next - 'the killing of the soul'. The verb-turned-noun names the act itself, and as the head it gives up its own 'the', drawing definiteness from its partner. It is the predicate identifying what the second major sin is.
