Arabic vocabulary
How to say “length of” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَمَنْ أَيْقَنَ بِطُوْلِ الطَّرِيقِ،
And whoever was certain that the road was long,
بِطُوْلِ — by the length of. The bi- is a preposition meaning roughly 'of/in', and its job is to pull the noun after it into the 'of...' ending. Here it links the certainty back to its object, telling you WHAT the person was certain about. The noun it governs then itself heads a possessive pair with 'the road'.
