How to say “the road” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَمَنْ أَيْقَنَ بِطُوْلِ الطَّرِيقِ،
And whoever was certain that the road was long,
اَلْطَّرِيقِ — the road. A definite noun carrying 'the' at its front. It is the owned half of the 'length of the road' pairing, so it takes the 'of...' ending and supplies the definiteness for 'length' standing before it. Notice 'the road' here is the thing measured, not the subject doing anything.
