• وَمَا أَنْت بالمشتاق إِن قلت بَيْننَا

  You are not longing if you say there is distance between us,

  بِالْمُشْتَاقِ — with the longing. 'Bi-' fused with an active participle 'the yearning one' — but here the 'bi-' is the EXTRA emphatic 'bi-' added to the predicate after the negating 'ma'. Arabic often puts a 'bi-' on the predicate of such a negation to drive the denial home; it does not translate as 'with'. So: 'you are by no means one who longs'.
