How to say “loss” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَنَسُوا فَقْدَ الأَقْرَانِ،
And they forgot the loss of their peers.
فَقْدَ — loss. A verbal noun ('the loss') set in the object (accusative) form because it is what the verb 'forgot' acts upon. It heads a possessive chain, owning the noun that follows, so it reads 'loss of...' and links the forgetting to its specific subject.
