How to say “lower your gaze” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَاغْضُضْ الطَرْفَ تَسْتَرِحْ
Lower your gaze and you will rest.
وَاغْضُضْ — and lower your gaze. Two pieces fuse: wa- ('and') tying this to the prior line, and a command verb aimed at 'you', 'lower'. Arabic builds the order by stripping the present prefix, so the bare stem signals an instruction. The wa- joins this charge to the run of advice.
