How to say “makes emaciated” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
والمالح يجفف البدن ويهزله
Saltiness dries the body and makes it emaciated.
وَيُهْزِلُهُ — and makes it emaciated. This is the bound wa- 'and' plus a present-tense verb 'it makes thin' plus the attached -hu 'it', so one word holds 'and it emaciates it'. The -hu is the object reaching back to 'the body', and the verb's own subject, still 'the salty', is carried inside its form.
