How to say “misfortunes” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَمُفَاجَأَةِ النُّقَمِ،
and the sudden onset of misfortunes,
النُّقَمِ — the misfortunes. A definite plural closing the 'of' chain, 'sudden onset of the misfortunes', so it takes the 'of'-style ending as what strikes. The two nouns sit directly together, the case marking alone signalling possession. It names the calamities whose abrupt arrival the reader is warned to dread.
