How to say “Nu'man” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَحَارِثَةُ بْنُ النُّعْمَانِ
And Haritha, son of al-Nu'man.
النُّعْمَانِ — al-Nu'man. The father's name, owned half of 'son of (so-and-so)', so genitive by the rule the 'son of' word imposes. The al- on it is part of the name itself. Its case is dictated solely by its place as the second term of the patronymic pairing, naming this man's father.
