How to say “passed by” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَمَرَّتْ سُلَيْمُ،
And Sulaym passed by,
وَمَرَّتْ — and passed by. The wa- here is the simple narrative 'and', launching a new clause about the next tribe; the verb 'passed' carries the feminine '-at' ending. So this wa- both joins to the previous events and opens a fresh sentence, while the feminine marker agrees with the tribe-name to come.
