Arabic vocabulary
How to say “remain” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَمَكَثَ فِيهِ ثَلاَثَ لَيَالٍ
So he stayed in it three nights.
فَمَكَثَ — so he stayed. The fa- carries the story forward, 'so / then', riding on a past verb whose 'he' is inside it. It moves to the next event, his stay; the joiner marks sequence, and the subject is the Prophet implied from before.
