Arabic vocabulary
How to say “see” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
أَدْرَكْتُمْهُ وَلَمْ نَدْرِكْهُ وَرَأَيْتُمْهُ وَلَمْ نَرَهُ
You met him, but we did not; you saw him, but we did not.
نَرَهُ — we see him. A present-form verb with the 'we' subject in its prefix and the object pronoun '-hu' (him), pushed into its clipped shape by 'lam': 'we did not see him'. The particle plus clipping yields the past-negative, no past-tense form needed. It closes the parallel contrast.
