Arabic vocabulary
How to say “set aside” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَأَرْصَدْتُهَا لِأَوْقَاتِ زِيَارَتِهِمْ،
So I set it aside for the times of their visits.
فَأَرْصَدْتُهَا — so I set it aside. This token fuses fa- ('so') with a past-tense verb carrying the -tu 'I' ending and -ha ('it') as its object. The fa- marks the result, 'so I...', the -tu pins the speaker, and the -ha points back to the simple tasks just described. One word thus carries the connector, the doer, and the thing acted upon.
