Arabic vocabulary
How to say “show-off” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَالْمُتَزَهِّدُ مُنَافِقٌ أَوْ مُرَاءٌ
And the ascetic is either a hypocrite or a show-off.
مُرَاءٌ — a show-off. A second indefinite predicate noun, the other half of the 'either...or' pairing, again attached to the subject without any 'is'. Because it is coordinated by the 'or' before it, it shares the same predicate role: the alternative label the ascetic may instead deserve.
